Breast ultrasound, sometimes called sonomammography, uses sound waves to assess breast tissue without ionising radiation.
It may help evaluate a palpable lump, focal pain, a mammographic finding or selected concerns in dense breast tissue. It does not automatically replace mammography.
Clear, clinically directed guidance
Breast Ultrasound is most useful when selected according to age, symptoms, screening history, breast density and previous findings. It should be part of a planned breast-imaging pathway rather than an isolated online choice.
Bring previous mammography, ultrasound, MRI or pathology records whenever available. Comparison can be important when assessing stability or deciding whether additional imaging is needed.
Breast imaging reports describe findings and recommendations in the context of the examination performed. A normal result does not replace clinical review of a persistent symptom, and an abnormal result does not by itself establish a diagnosis.
The next step may be routine screening, targeted imaging, short-interval follow-up or image-guided sampling depending on the complete clinical and imaging picture.
